The 12 x 12-inch Deluxe Blu-Ray/Book edition features four Blu-Ray discs and a 236-page hardback art-book containing computer generated images from the 3-D multi-media performances alongside a selection of unseen photos. Two blu-rays cover the album performances, the other two discs contain tour films and projections. Everything is 3D but compatible with standard 2D. These all have Dolby Atmos 5.1 audio too, if you’re amp is compatible! The total running time is 436 minutes.

The Godfathers of Glitch and the Kings of Kling-Klang come out of seclusion with a double live CD culled from various concerts on their 2004 tour. Minimum-Maximum is essentially a greatest-hits album with an audience applauding and occasionally shouting. Without them, of course, you’d never know the album was live, since Kraftwerk is the band that put the programming in pop music. Not much has changed with them since the 1980s. They’re still wired to the same sonic circuitry as on Electric Café in 1986, sculpting glistening electro-soundscapes that pulse but never quite groove. And they still sing in that flat, German-accented English and French with Speak and Spell electro-voices. But rather than sound dated, this has a timeless charm, especially since Kraftwerk are among the few Kraut rock groups with a sense of humor. With only two studio albums in the last 20 years, you have to give them credit for not caving in to current electronica and techno trends–Kraftwerk remain resolutely electronic. Even their samples sound synthesized. But also give them credit for some of the most relentlessly glistening electronic music ever crafted, and a sound that remains surprisingly pure. All the hits are here, from “Autobahn” to “Tour de France,” but nicely buffed to a high chrome finish.

In recent years, Kraftwerk have toured their legendary catalogue with large-scale 3D shows. Recordings of those concerts will soon be available, in various formats, as a live film and album called 3-D The Catalogue. Watch a trailer below. Held in contemporary art museums around the world, the shows were captured as HD, 3D “multi-media presentations.” The complete release package includes full performances of eight Kraftwerk albums, available in 2D and 3D: Autobahn, Radioactivity, Trans Europe Express, The Man-Machine, Computer World, Techno Pop, The Mix and Tour De France. As well as the Blu-Ray edition, which includes a 228-page book, the set is available on DVD, vinyl, CD, and as a stream or download. Two abridged versions, featuring a selection of songs from across the eight records, will be released on Blu-Ray, DVD, and double-vinyl. All formats are out May 26.
